Another snowy morning and I hear eagles chirping outside. I go out the back to see two eagles sitting side by side in a very tall cottonwood tree. The are looking towards me and I see they both have the white heads and white tail feathers. Of course I look around to see where baby is, as I’m thinking this must be mom and dad. (See previous blog entries).
Yesterday I was kicking myself for not getting my camera out and taking a picture of mom and baby in the tree in our backyard. So I run for my camera and by the time I get back in position, dad has flown off, not to be seen anywhere. So I decide to take a picture of mom. Check out my gallery on this website for pictures.
It’s now an hour later and I hear chirping in the front so I look out my cabin window to see, low and behold, it’s baby. Now mom and dad are gone and babies here. It seems strange to call him “baby”, he’s as big as his dad. I take a picture of him in the front and within minutes he moves to the big tree in the back overlooking the river. This is the same tree he and mom were in together, yesterday. The perch high up on this tree, has long been a favorite hangout for eagles. He’s chirping, I’m guessing he’s looking for mom and dad or maybe calling out to let them know he’s found some fish to eat.
Dusty’s wolf dog Shadow Spirit was begging to go out with me but I told her she had to stay inside this time. She’s way to big for any eagle to carry off but I didn’t want her to start barking and scare the eagles off. Shadow is a hero in all of Dusty’s books and she’s a wonderful loving pet. See Dusty’s books in the store on this website.
I’ll keep a eagle eye out of my cabin window and let you know of any progress.
