Snowy Morning written 12-4-2008
As I looked out my cabin window to check the temperature outside, I shook with a chill. It was only 3 degrees above zero. Out of the corner of my left eye I saw something very large in a tree near my cabin. It was all dark in color which was very unusual as I almost always see the bald eagles with white head and white tail feathers. I pulled up my binoculars to get a closer look. The very large birds backside was in my view. He turned his head and I tried to get a closer look at his beak to see if maybe he was a unusually large hawk. I couldn't tell for sure as he turned his head back to his front. It was confirmed though he was dark all over. Most likely he was a young bald eagle or maybe a mature golden eagle. A young bald eagle is the size of his parents before his head and tail feathers turn white. The golden eagle is wonderful to see and has dark colors. I don't see the golden eagles as often out of my cabin window, but when I do it's quite a treat.

We don't see eagles where we live and we never get snow. How exciting, I can't wait to hear more.
