Wow! I see the big dark bird again, only this time he's with another bird. Now we're sure what kind of bird he is.
Wow! Dusty is out plowing snow in the driveway and he alerts me to look out of the cabin window at the two big birds. He said their in the tree overlooking the river in our back yard. I take a look and tell him that's the bird I saw before and talked about in the blog. Very large and all dark in color. I thought he may be an eagle because of his size but wasn't sure. Now this morning he's perched in the tree right next to an eagle with a white head and white tail feathers. Because he's all dark he must be a young eagle who's head and tail feathers haven't turned white yet. He is two times bigger than the eagle he's sitting next to which leads me to believe the smaller eagle is probably his mother.
I just went to the window to take another look and the smaller eagle is gone while the dark eagle is still perched in the tree. Most likely mom has gone to look for food to bring back for the two of them. Eagles mate for life, so dad is probably out hunting as well.
Our river has nine species of fish that run through it which includes 3 species of salmon. I am now hearing a series of squeaky chitters. This could mean mom is calling large baby to come and eat. I'll keep a look out. It's snowing, what beauty, the river is flowing, and the eagle is perched in the tree as I listen to queaky chitters in my ears.

Great information, I can't wait to hear more. We don't have snow here and never see eagles.
